The studios at Charleston Sound were designed by Wes Lachot Design and provide pristine, no-compromise recording spaces and mixing environments. You’d literally have to hop in a plane to find another studio as fine as this one.
Two large and separate isolation rooms open into a very large, high-ceiling live studio room that is anointed with maple hardwood floors and custom RPG diffusion and acoustic panels. Separate sound locks provide a thoughtful home for noisy amplifiers and guitar cabinets. Overlooking the recording spaces is a large, reflection-free zone control room that is acoustically designed for critical listening. Read more about our Control Room Features here.
The centerpiece of our control room is a custom API recording and mixing console that features 56 API 500 series slots, 32 channels of API equalization, 32 API microphone preamps, 40 mix down inputs, and extensive patchbay and routing capabilities. Our monitoring systems are impressive as well. Featuring Dynaudio M3 large main monitors, Dynaudio AIR 5.1 surround system and Barefoot Sound MM27 nearfields, you’ll hear every detail of your production. For added color, the console is mirrored by a five-bay producer’s rack which is full of the very best dynamic and effects processors available today. View a list of our main equipment here.
This studio was built right. Walls and ceilings are isolated from each other and float on acoustic materials with up to six layers of drywall for soundproofing. Three fully independent HVAC systems – suspended by special vibration absorbing shocks – will keep you and your crew cool and comfortable. Isolated star grounded electrical circuits bring pure, clean power to every outlet. Inviting hardwood floors and custom dimmable lighting throughout will help set the vibe right.
These details and hundreds of others have been addressed in advance so that your experience and results at Charleston Sound can be no less than exceptional.
